After a great summer of driving, which has included lots of shows and events, the final prep work is in full swing to get ‘Devon's Best' ready for the epic ‘Round Britain Reliability Run' journey ahead. This has included a Triumph Sports Six Club event consisting of a trio of Triumphs driving from Bovey Tracey, across Dartmoor to Tavistock and then onto the popular Lifton Farm Shop for a well deserved Cream Tea (the Devon way, naturally!).
These intrepid vintage car drivers only had one small issue and road side repair, the car and owner/driver, Director Rob Lingard got home safely, however the next day the car's overdrive was having a problem. After investigation and a top up of gear box oil, a loose wire was the culprit and is now fixed and working well again. Smart, but not original alloy wheels have just been changed for original refurbished steel road wheels, giving the car more stability for the 2000 mile, non-stop run and a big thanks has to go out to Ray and his team at Buyrite Tyres in Newton Abbot for doing such a good job!
The air filters and spark plugs have now been changed with the rear differential oil also being topped up so the next major preparation job is to drain down the engine oil, replace the oil filter and top it up again. The car should then be ready for a good shake down and run through before the end of the month and then the final preparation will take place before Rob & his co-pilot and mechanic Adam Rhodes leave on Thursday 4th October.
The 26th running of one of the oldest events in the Triumph enthusiast's calendar, the Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run will be held from Friday 5th October to Sunday 7th October 2018, where Triumph or Standard motor cars to participate in what has to be a unique event in the motoring world. For 2018 we will support Epilepsy Research UK and hope to raise over £50,000.00 to build upon the sum of over £600,000.00 raised by previous RBRRs for UK Charities.
