Classic Car Event 2021 for MNDA

Date Published 10 May 2021

One of the most iconic and extreme motoring events is back this year (after being postponed from 2020 due to the Covid restrictions) and is being run in October. Club Triumph has been running this event since 1966 and has had a charitable aspect since 1990. Total monies raised since 1990 now stand at over £700,000 and the Club is fantastically proud of its fundraising achievements on this Event.

All entrants are scheduled to cover over 2000 miles in 48 hours……..yes, you read that correctly! We start at Knebworth House (Friday evening) then travel to far north of Scotland, taking in John O'Groats (Saturday morning breakfast stop), then back through the Highlands and Glencoe with some incredible driving roads and scenery to Wales and then onto Lands End (Sunday morning breakfast stop) before finishing back at Knebworth House (Sunday evening). In a two-seater car which is c43 years old, this is no mean fete and getting the car ‘run' ready is a lengthy process. The car is currently in the workshop getting a few long overdue technical issues resolved, including the clutch and rear differential.

With an entry list of around 150 Triumph cars and approximately 340 entrants this is a very 'busy' weekend and the buzz at the start is fantastic, the driving exciting and the camaraderie between entrants brilliant. Inevitably, some cars do develop faults – however there is always someone willing to help out, as we found out in 2014 when a ceased alternator caused us to ‘break down' just passed infamous Glencoe!!

It is an addictive event and our Teignbridge Director, Rob Lingard successfully completed the run in 2014 & 2018 and is now really looking forward to the 2021 event. "The whole event is a real experience, with some amazing driving roads, driving through lots of interesting places and there is always a tale or two after each section with a great ‘team' atmosphere, lots of laughter and of course litres of coffee! I simply can't wait to get going!" adds Rob.

Most importantly, this latest running of the Round Britain Reliability Run (RBRR) is raising funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA), with 100% of any donations made going to the charity!

To sponsor the car, please contact Rob on 01626 240229 or drop him an email rob@saundersandlingard.co.uk and we will keep you updated on the JustGiving web page as soon as it is up and running.
